In a nutshell: A versatile powder ski that appreciates not every day is a powder day.

Atomic’s original Bent Chetlers have been on the scene for years and, at 120mm underfoot, are considered by many the ultimate weapon of choice for powder days. So when Atomic released a 100mm version last year, freeskiers across the globe were left feeling a little perplexed. Why would you change that which didn’t need changing? And would the fundamental essence of one of freeskiing’s main players be lost? Turns out Atomic managed to prove everyone wrong and the Bent Chetler 100 is the ultimate all-mountain ski.

Yup, by shaving off that extra 20mm Atomic have converted the Bent Chetler into a ski that you can ride all day, every day, no matter what the conditions, rather than a mythical powder ski that has to stay in the cupboard until that elusive 20cm plus day. Because let’s face it, unless you’re in the most northern corners of Japan or Canada, those days are going to be few and far between. The Bent Chetler 100 takes this into account and excels where its fatter friend would start to feel cumbersome and sluggish; in the trees after a week of no snow, slushy side-hits in April or blasting around the pistes early season. Its tried and true, no-frills construction features a lightweight wood core, full sidewall construction, slightly directional shape, and rockered tips and tails, which makes for a playful ski that gives you optimal control over a range of conditions.

If you’re a dedicated freeskier looking for an all-round ski that you can have maximum fun with every day of the season, this should be your top pick. Especially if you’re heading off for a season in Europe. Whether you’re hiking lines or playing around on the piste, you’ll always feel like you’ve got the right pair of skis on your feet.
